Themyscira is the mythical home of Diana Prince, Wonder Woman. In anticipation of the the upcoming Wonder Woman movie I have drawn inspiration from her iconic costume to design this shawl. The shawl is knitted from the top down in a crescent shape with an applied lace border in a contrast colour.

The upper edge of the shawl has a series of points taken from Wonder Woman’s tiara and the lateral braid at the intersection of the body and lace evokes the lasso of Truth. The lace in the border has curves based on the style lines of her bodice and chevrons taken from her iconic logo.

Notions: 4mm (US 6) circular needle, at least 80cm long, 5 stitch markers & tapestry needle

Yarn: The shawl is knitted in fingering weight yarn

  • 290m (80g) of the main colour for the body
  • 340m (90g) of the contrast colour for the lace.

The sample is knit in Mother of Purl Wonder Woman Movie Kit containing 2 skeins of her Thomas base which is 60% Superwash Merino, 20% Yak, 20% Silk

Gauge (measured over garter stitch after blocking): 18 sts and 23 rows = 4in/ 10cm

Finished Measurements: Wingspan - 150cm (59”), Center depth - 62cm (24.5”)
