Worked in the round, you’ll spend most of your time purling an overall squishy surface that allows deep set pockets of stockinette to dimple the hat. The slipped stitches create welts that are only visible on the reverse side and add that extra thermal layer which makes this hat so warm. Wearing this toque is like wearing a hug on your head.

This honeycomb pattern is adapted from Barbara Walker’s Second Treasury of Knitting Patterns. In the book, she calls it “Blind Buttonhole Stitch” and it’s on page 26. I have adapted this stitch pattern so it can be worked in the round and over fewer stitch repeats to account for using super bulky yarn.
