These Are The Breaks: the pdf includes the patterns for all 3-pieces; a capelet, a buttoned scarf/cowl, a set of armwarmers. All 3 pieces are designed with garter stitch and breaks of open stitches to serve as buttonholes. They can be worn any number of ways. This set is the Prequel to BREAKING BIG! These pieces are perfect to wear and layer during transitional weather all the way through winter.

Wear them all together, or break the pieces up! Knit them to give as gifts, or keep them for yourself.

Instructions are given to assist in modifying sizes of all three pieces.

Finished Measurements:
Capelet: after blocking, approx 36” collar circumference, 72” bottom hem circumference x 15” tall
Scarf/Cowl: after light blocking, approx 9” wide x 51” long
Armwarmers: after light blocking, approx 10” long x 7” hand circumference (will stretch up to slightly over 8” hand circumference.

Gauge: 4 stitches x 6 rows = 1” in garter stitch on size 10 ½ (6.5mm) needles, pre-blocked

Materials:
Needle size: US 10 ½ (6.5mm) or size to obtain gauge

Capelet 3 – 100g/130yd hanks, Bulky Yarn (360 yards of Malabrigo Mecha in colorway Candombe were used)
1-3 Large buttons (or whatever you’d like to use as a closure)

Scarf/Cowl 2 – 100g/130yd hanks, Bulky Yarn
3 Large buttons

Armwarmers 1 – 100g/130yd hank, Bulky Yarn (90 yards of Malabrigo Mecha in colorway Candombe were used)

Yarn needle for weaving ends and sewing buttons
3 stitch markers (helpful, but not necessary)

10/17/2013 UPDATE v2: Capelet instuctions should be to repeat rows 10 - 15 25 more times. Older version said rows 10 - 25.
