This is a wide, cozy shawl showcasing three quite different, but very beautiful, colorways stacked on top of each other: two skeins of one color and one skein for each of the others.

The shawl is knitted from the bottom up in intarsia (color block) work, using a simple pattern of knit and purl stitches. The pattern is written, not charted, and is quickly memorized. It is suitable for an advanced beginner or intermediate knitter, but knitters of every level will enjoy knitting and wearing Three-Color Stack.

For someone who has not knitted intarsia before, this could be a good introduction. The color blocks are large and simple, the instructions are quite detailed, and there are links to online tutorials for several techniques.

My version is 106” wide at the top and 24” deep, wide enough that the color blocks extend around the body when it’s worn. I used almost all of the four skeins I had, but the size is such that if the knitter begins to run short it can be bound off a few rows sooner - it will matter very little.

Amores Yarn Studio Tierra is not listed in Ravelry’s database. Tierra is a DK singles yarn 100% superwash merino, 240 yd (100g). Any similar weight yarn would work.
