Crochet pattern for three mini pumpkins.

Using double-knitting (DK, light worsted weight, Category 3) yarn and a 3.5mm (US: size E-4) crochet hook, the finished pumpkins will be approximately:

• Smaller Pumpkin ……. 6.5cm (2½ inches)
• Middle-sized Pumpkin ……. 8cm (3¼ inches)
• Larger Pumpkin ……. 9.5cm (3¾ inches)

But using a different weight yarn and an appropriate hook, you can make them the size of your choice.

This pattern is suitable for someone starting out in crochet, as it only uses the UK: dc / US: sc stitch, and a decrease which is taught in the pattern.

The fully-illustrated, easy-to-follow pattern includes detailed notes on your choosing your yarn and lots of helpful tips. Also included is a tutorial on making an invisible decrease.

You will need:

• yarn of your choice
• crochet hook
• stuffing material (details are provided in the pattern)
• a blunt yarn needle
• sharp scissors

My crochet patterns include BOTH a detailed ‘tutorial-style’ set of instructions with colour photos, AND a succinct unillustrated pattern using standard crochet conventions.
I have developed this style because I find I like to see a lot of detail the first time I work a pattern, but if I then work the same piece again, I don’t need the pictures, etc, and indeed they can get in the way when I just want a quick reminder of what I’m doing. The PDF is also structured so that the succinct version, with an area for your own notes, is on a single page, making it easy to just take one sheet of paper with you if you have printed it out for quick reference on the move.
