Cozy socks are so comforting, especially when you can pull them up over your favorite pair of leggings. Yes, it’s kind of retro, but these socks have an especially wide leg for exactly that purpose.

The foot of the sock has narrow ridged stripes across the top and the top and the leg has wider ridges around, hence the name “Thick and Thin”.

These socks are worked from the toe up and have a Japanese, or pinned, short row heels. If you are new to Japanese short rows, there is a free tutorial available on my blog at, http://www.thechillydog.com/2016/11/knitting-tutorial-japanese-short-row-heels.html. Some consider the method to be a little tedious, but it creates the tidiest heel I have ever tried.

The directions for this sock pattern are needle neutral. You can knit with either dpns or circular needles and the magic loop method.
