My granddaughter needed something to wear on her thumbs to keep her from wearing her thumbnails down. (Born with Rett Syndrome). My daughter asked me if I could come up with something that her daughter could wear. So, this pattern came to be. In case any of you could use such a pattern, I decided to share, as I couldn’t find anything like it on the Internet.

I have knit this pattern several times, but it has not been test knit by another knitter. Please let me know, should you choose to knit a thumb glove, if there is a mistake or a direction that is unclear.

I have listed 25 gr of worsted weight yarn, which should be plenty. I used scrap balls of yarn and found that the weight of the finished glove varied with different brands of yarn. The first pair I knit with cotton yarn, which I hoped would be more comfortable, but I found that acrylic yarn is better at holding its shape and staying on my granddaughter’s hand.
