This easy to knit ultra stylish shawlette or bandana cowl features garter stitch edging and a shawl “spine” that resembles a thunderbolt or zig zag.

Being a huge soccer fan was actually the inspiration behind this cowl or shawl. For those familiar with the eloquent announcer Ray Hudson, he once uttered “Like a lightning bolt from Zeus’ hand!” while covering a play. He’s famous for other colorful phrases too but that one stuck in my mind and so became the catalyst for this piece. :)

I used about 200 yards of Cotton-Ease yarn in the color Lake to make this cowl/shawl.

The shawlette is finished off either by sewing up the opposing ends at the top edge or by adding a button for closure.

Finished measurements: 32” across at top edge; 15” in height from bottom to top edge; sides measure 19”.
