A Thunderegg is a rounded rock formation that looks roughly textured and dull on the outside, but has beautiful layers of color and crystals on the inside. The Thunderegg was designated Oregon’s State Rock in 1965, and Eastern Oregon is famous for its deposits of these unexpected treasures.

Difficulty Level: Easy

Size: Child (Adult)/ 16”(18”) circumference, to fit up to 20”(22”) head

Yarn: Randomness Hat Kit by Wonderland Yarns or 3 colors heavyworsted-weight yarn (~50 yards each) Colors A, B, and C

Needle: US 7 16” circular needle, US 7 set of double-pointed needles

Gauge: 4.75 sts/7 rows per inch (19sts/28rows per 4 inches)

Notions: Stitch marker, yarn needle for weaving in ends
