A deeply textured cowl that uses cable techniques and ribbing to create a structural feel that mimics the furrows of ploughed fields. The cowl can be worn as is to protect the chin and ears, or folded down to keep the edges out of the way.

Measurements
Finished circumference: 66 cm / 26”
Height: 24 cm / 9.5”
Yarn: Blacker Yarns Blacker Breeds DK (110 metres / 119 yards per 50 g ball)
(Shown in Moorit): 125 g / 4.4 oz
Yarn requirements are approximate.
Gauge: 22 sts and 24 rounds = 10 cm / 4” in diagonal cabled pattern in the round on 5 mm needles, after blocking.
When working your gauge swatch, work a few rows of plain ribbing on smaller needles and change to larger needles for cabled pattern to ensure the ribbing doesn’t flare out.
Needles
5 mm / US 8 circular needle, 60 cm / 24” length (or size required to obtain correct gauge)
4 mm / US 6 circular needle, 60 cm / 24” length (or needle 2 sizes smaller to work ribbing neatly)
Notions: Stitch markers, cable needle, darning needle for sewing in ends.
