From the pattern description:

This is a fun pattern to knit with hand painted yarn. The socks are knitted from the cuff down, with a slip-stitch heel flap. Little lace blocks add texture and dimension, and the pattern stitch is easy to follow and remember. The angles created by the decreases tilt, and the shifting colors of the yarn whirl around the sock -- Tilt and Whirl!
