Timberline, the altitude above which no trees grow; visible only as a subtle shift of tone and texture. The mountains have always signaled home to me. My home town has the most spectacular backdrop, the Golden Ears Mountain Range. Silently present, with colours shifting seemingly before your eyes, and too difficult to name. The mountains are a magical place indeed.

Timberline emulates this subtle shift by using two low contrast colours to create a rich palette of texture. Ribbing and two-colour garter stitch are used throughout the pattern making for a simple and rhythmic knit, perfect for showing off special skeins of yarn.

Knit using DK weight, Timberline is an excellent transition hat from winter to spring and fall to winter. Intended to be worn with a slouch, Timberline is cute with or without a pompom.

The colour combinations are endless. Low contrast, high contrast, speckles and tonals…the list goes on. Make it your own homage to a magical place that speaks to you.

I’m so happy I could share this little glimpse into my world. I hope you enjoy knitting Timberline and wish you joy in your making and time in your special places.
