On September 21st, 2015, a rat was filmed carrying an entire slice of pizza down the steps into an NYC subway station. The internet went wild, and a legend was born. I remember the Pizza Rat excitement as it was happening, but I didn’t truly appreciate the vibe until a decade later. Now, just before the legend of Pizza Rat turns 10 years old, you can knit your own teeny tiny version of that tenacious rodent.

Yarns:
10 yds beige fingering weight yarn
10 yds yellow fingering weight yarn
10 yds grey fingering weight yarn
2 yds red fingering weight yarn for toppings
1 yd pink fingering weight yarn for tail

Tools and Materials:

• US 1, 2.25mm double pointed knitting needles
• Darning needle for sewing up
• Flat backed safety pin (optional)

Stitches Used:
BO: bind off
CO: cast on
FO: finish off
K: knit
Kfb: knit in the front and back of the same stitch (1 stitch increased)
K2tog: knit two stitches together
K3tog: slip two stitches knitwise individually. knit next stitch, pass the two slipped stitches over the stitch you just knit (two stitches decreased)
P: purl
P2tog: purl two stitches together
SSK: slip the next 2 stitches knitwise, place them back on the left needles, knit them together through the back of the stitches
