This little onesie was the first thing we put on our daughter after she was born, I wanted to create a piece of clothing that would keep her damp newborn body warm and comfortable in a nice and soft material.
A onesie that wraps around the baby is practical and simple, the perfect piece of clothing for a newborn. Wool and silk keeps the baby comfortably warm, helps draw moisture away from the body and helps regulate the body-temperature.
What could possibly be better for your baby than getting wrapped up in a lovely hand knit onesie for the first few hours and days of life.
Use a lovely silk/alpaca blend for the summer baby and a warmer merino or alpaca for the winter baby. Along with a pair of warm socks and a hat, this is all the baby needs those first few days.

(This is not a pattern I would recommend for beginners, there is a lot to keep straight as you start this pattern, but it is a fun challenge, and I know many new knitters that have done it with great success)
