Looking for a quick zen knit? Create a simple knit hat in fisherman’s rib with a twisted rib brim deep enough for folding up or pulling down to keep your ears warm. Fisherman’s rib creates a squishy fabric similar to brioche stitch by using only knit and purl stitches.

This pattern can be worked in any yarn weight and needle pairing to give you a fabric that you like. Examples were worked in fingering weight held double on US4 (red hat in photos) or worsted weight on US6 (blue, yellow, and variegated hats in photos). Pattern gauge is 24 stitches x 24 rows over 4” square.

Materials needed:
US4 or US6 16” circular and dpns to work crown
Stitch marker
Tapestry needle
