Simple 1800’s style ruffled garter stitch shawl in 4 versions - the first has an abbreviated shoulder and a back that curves down with a deeper ruffle (photos above), the second is longer over the shoulder and straighter across the back (middle photos). The 3rd - Petite Jane (bottom) isn’t much more than a wide collar, and is most like the shawl worn in the film’s “Is this how you perceive me?” scene. And the - final? - fourth, Outdoors Eyre (not pictured), is bigger all around. All are very sweet!

Shawl is knit in one piece from side to side with short-row garter-stitch ruffles on bottom edge and short rows shaping shoulders and back.

Inspired by shawls worn in the new film, Jane Eyre. For the full back story, check out the Needlework News and Events groups thread on “shawl in new Jane Eyre movie.”
