I came back to my townhouse after a long day, only to find that my arch-nemesis was waiting for me. That’s right. The spider. My foe crept slowly along the wall, pausing, waiting to strike. I knew I had to act fast, but I also knew that no weapon known to man could defeat this long-despised rival. So, summoning up my courage, I called my boyfriend to come do the dirty deed.

It wasn’t until a week or so later that I uncovered my defeated foe’s lair…now fallen in status to that of a cobweb. Let me tell you, I despise touching spiderwebs or any variant thereof almost as much as I avoid their makers. Yet as I shrieked and whipped my arms about trying to dislodge the sticky substance, a brilliant thought occurred to me. What if, the next time I should encounter such a hideous fiend, I should camouflage myself? Cloak myself in an unsuspecting innocent web?

It was at that moment I knew what I had to do. Cover my arms (the only body part I might permit to enter the vicinity of a spider) in the facade of a web, disguise myself, so that the next time such a creature intrudes on my humble abode…I’ll be ready.
