This sweater jacket is a knitting experience with color and shape. It combines miter squares and garter stitch with a sharp mandarin collar.
Sized for 3-6, it can be adjusted for other sizes. The first project was for a 2 yr old. The sweater was done in a variegated sock, working double strand. This gives the spectacular range of colors . However, a variegated DK wt yarn would also work. The Miter squares used scrap yarn in a number of colors. A mix of solid and striped yarn can be used equally well. Miter squares provide opportunity to explore the use of color.

The pattern is also a fun one to do as it proceeds through the different parts of it. It is also very adaptable to size changing being very tolerant of adding or decreasing a stitch here and there as you may feel needed for your project.

The most critical part of this pattern is doing a gauge swatch for the miter square and the pattern will walk you through this.
