The name Tombo is Japanese for dragonfly and it symbolize courage, strength, and happiness.

Japanese quilting and embroidery technique Sashiko became an inspiration for this elegant wrap. The central part is worked in Mosaic garter stitch. It means that knitter is always working with just one color in every row.

Wrap is worked from one longer edge to other.

Finished Measurements:
76.5”/194 cm length.
16.5”/42 cm width.
Measurements are taken after blocking.

Gauge:
20 sts x 40 rows = 4” (10 cm) on size US6 (4 mm) needles in Garter Stitch, after blocking.

Tools:
Size US 6 (4 mm) circular (circ) needles 32”/80 cm long, or size to obtain gauge. 2 double-pointed needles (dpns) of same size.
Size US 7 (4.5 mm) circular (circ) needles 32”/80 cm long (optional).

While gauge is not critical for this project, different gauge can affect the size and overall yardage.

Notions:
Tapestry needle, blocking wires (optional).

Materials:
Approximately 1425 yds/1303 m of fingering weight yarn: 890 yds/816 m of Color A and 535 yds/489 m of Color B.

For the sample I have used:
Color A: 5 skeins of GGH Merino Soft (100% Merino, 186 yds/170 m in 50 gr); #114, Entenblau (Navy).
Color A: 3 skeins of GGH Merino Soft (100% Merino, 186 yds/170 m in 50 gr); #003, Wollweiß (White).

Pattern Style: both written and charted instructions using common knitting abbreviations. Mosaic pattern is charted.
