Tone's Silver Brooch by Tone Takle and Lise Kolstad

Tone's Silver Brooch

Norwegian Nature, Model 1
<p>
"Traditional silver brooches are worn all too infrequently in our country. They are wonderfully handsome and deserve to be worn more than the two days every year when all Norwegians dress up in traditional costume. The pattern at the front of the sweater is based on silver brooches. On the back and the sleeves are simpler allover patterns. This is an easy-to-knit sweater that would look great in almost any color combination."

Sweaters was originally published in Norway in 1990 as Norsk Strikkebok. The English edition was put out by Interweave in 1992.  It is sadly out of print but shows up now and then on eBay.

Pattern calls for “worsted weight yarn” at about 1000 yards/pound.  16-18 oz MC, 15-18 oz CC, 4 oz accent color.
