This adorable little cloche style hat will keep baby’s head and ears warm during the chilly months. Instructions are given for newborn to 3 month size with 4 – 12 months in parentheses ( ) using the same yarn and needle size. It uses only the stockinette stitch (knit each round) and one purled round to turn the hem. Instructions are also given for the Turkish Cast-On to begin the hat from the top and work down to the brim. Kitchener Stitch instructions are also provided for grafting the end of the bow (which is knit in the round on both sides to give it some strength). Don’t be overly concerned about the gauge; the hat will be quite stretchy. You may wish to look through your yarn stash for lengthy scraps of soft worsted weight yarn and baby yarn to create the hat, or use the material guide below, which will provide several hats.
