These finish to 18.8” at the hip and fit most infants 0-3 months old. Use any standard gauge machine and any soft yarn that can get a gauge of 7 stitches/10 rows/8nch. To make a larger pair of party pants, follow the same instructions with a slightly thicker yarn such as Tamm Bebe. At a gauge of 6.5 stitches per inch, the pants will come out 20” at the hip. At a gauge of 6 stitches/” they will be 22” at the hip. This style is only recommended for standard gauge machines. In addition to about 3 ounces of suitable yarn, you will need ruffled 1-2 yards of ruffled lace. The purl side of the fabric is the right side for this project. I have videos of the lace being hung and the elastic casings being made.
This pattern is part of the book “TOP DOWN TOGS” which is full of top down designs
