A sturdy knitting or market bag, knit from the bottom up with linen stitch for added structure. Big enough to hold a large knitting project or groceries from your local farmer’s market.

Materials:

  • 1 set 3.75mm/US 5 double pointed needles (8” preferable)
  • 1 set 3.25mm/US 3 double pointed needles
  • 6mm/US 10 - 80 cm/32” circular needle 3.75 mm/US 5 - 80 cm/32” or 60 cm/24” circular needle
  • 10 (or more)  removable stitch markers
  • 3 skeins Briggs & Little Tuffy (113g, 196m; 80% wool, 20% nylon) or other comparable worsted weight see note on colour
  • stitch holder or spare yarn

Note on Colour:
Depending on how one wishes to apportion the colours, one can use all one colour or as many as three. The options would be to do the whole tote in one colour in which the linen stitch will be noticeable, but less pronounced. Or, do a two row or four row stripe from the bottom up through the linen stitch cylinder to make the linen stitch more noticeable. Then use the third colour to complete the top and the strap.
