This is more of a recipe and less of a pattern, so you can customize your fit as you go. Add or subtract increase rows to adjust the amount of fullness, and check the length as you stitch to create anything from a capelet to a floor-length, swirling masterpiece!
While this model is all one color to let the dramatic front closures take center stage, you can get a different look altogether by using a contrast color for the decorative welts and the crab stitch edging, or really go to town with some well planned stripes.
Plain double crochet not for you? Try linked stitches, or grab a double-crochet-based diagram from your favorite stitch dictionary and experiment.
Closures in the photo by Jul. I am not affiliated with them, just love their stuff :-)
