The smaller, scarf version of the Colour Trail shawl.

Designed to show off hand-painted yarns, it takes just one skein of 4ply/fingering or two skeins of DK/light worsted.

It’s perfect for that irresistible yarn-show treat, or the beautiful yarn that is lingering in stash.

The scarf makes a gentle crescent shape, so it sits beautifully around the neck and shoulders. Starting at one narrow end, it is knit all in one piece. This is an easy intermediate project.

Garter Stitch stipples and blends colours together while the smooth lace border lets flecks of colour glow. A single trail of slipped stitches delineates the two textures. You’ll show off all the colours in your beautiful yarn.

The original pattern is written for 4ply “light” version and a DK/light worsted “cosy” version. Whilst you can knit it in other weights, the pattern works best for these options. Who doesn’t love a 1-skein 4ply/fingering project? And 2 skeins of DK makes an alternative quick knit.

All details needed to make these options are included in the book. All patterns are tech edited and tested in a range of yarns.

This pattern is only listed for 4ply on Ravelry, because it’s only possible to list a pattern for one yarn weight, even though this design is also written specifically for DK/light worsted too. If you’d like to see this change, please vote for it on The List.
