This beautiful and elegant scarf/shawl is the perfect first project for someone venturing into lace knitting. The stitch pattern has a low stitch and row count repeat, that is easy to get the hang of. Even the experienced lace knitter could enjoy this project as a break from more involved stitch patterns.

Scarf requires 280m (306yds) of hemp or linen, or 200m (219yds) of fine mohair.

Shawl requires 560m (612yds) of hemp or linen, or 400m (438yds) of fine mohair.

Using hemp or linen yarns will create a flowing scarf or shawl with beautiful drape, great for a fashion or warm weather accessory. On the other hand, mohair makes a gorgeously soft and incredibly warm finished project. Make one of these scarves/shawls for every season.
