Two bags from this pattern: Pleated Handbag and Lady’s Handbag.

The two handbags in this pattern begin with a rectangular base. Stitches are picked up around the base and the body of the bag is knit on a circular needle up to the top of the bag.

The Pleated version has some decreasing on the front and back. There are buttonholes strategically placed at the top so the I-cord strap can be threaded through in such a way as to pleat the sides of the bag. After felting, the pleated purse was 8” tall and about 9” wide. The rectangular bottom was 10” x 5”.

The Lady’s Handbag version is shaped by decreasing within the sides of the purse. Attached I-cord handles complete the purse. After felting, the Lady’s Handbag was 8 1/2” wide and 8” tall. The circumference around the base of the handbag was 22” and the circumference at the top of the handbag was 17”.
