Oh no!

I thought for sure this was a pattern that I’d imagined, but a helpful person pointed out that this looks eerily similar to the Cape Meares hat. It’s simpler: only 3 colours in the bands instead of six, the triangles are smaller, and I imagine the math and crown shaping is different since it was done from my own swatch and my own head measurements.

But the fact is, I almost certainly saw this hat during yarn crawl and accidentally re-created it months later when I forgot where I’d seen it and couldn’t find the pattern that I was certain in my pattern books. I feel awful about this, I wasn’t intending to do that and I’d honestly thought I’d imagined the pattern from having seen a triangle gloves pattern in a book I owned, and figured triangles weren’t a copyright issue so making a hat with triangles would be fine.

I am very sorry, and I’m taking this hat pattern offline to be reworked into something more unique. Please go buy the Cape Meares hat, which is available in more sizes and yarn weights anyhow!
