What am I missing?
Tricsi
Tricsi fastens with one button and is knitted in one piece from a provisional cast-on at the centre back collar down to the hem, collar, front bands and all.
(See Tric for a grown-up version.)
This is a new technique – Åsa’s Top-Down Ziggurat Tricnique (inspired by Tuulia’s Tailored Sweater Method but knitted in one go), featuring also in my koronki pattern.)
Step-by-step instructions and a photo tutorial guide you through the unusual beginning, a bit of zigging, zagging, and zipping back and forth before you’re off and sooner at the hem than you’d thought.
There are, unnecessarily one might think for a child or toddler cardigan, short-rowed shoulders. There is a reason for that – apart from the fact that a child, too, might deserve a more tailored garment at times.
The idea was that Tricsi would closely echo my cardigans and sweaters for adults (though only koronki has been published so far), a sort of trial run for knitters who may want to try out the Tricnique before perhaps committing to an adult-sized cardigan or sweater.
It’s also just a fun way to try out a new technique.
Besides, Tricsi is also just rather cute.
