Twisted traveling stitches tend to make a sturdy fabric. Embroidery makes them even more so. This, it seems to me, is ideal for a vest. This is a surprisingly versatile pattern. The same panels can be done in many different colorways, producing vests of varying character. I made one for my son using a dark variegated yarn for the middle panels. It came out certainly masculine and even dignified. The vest as shown is a garment you can put on over work clothes and be clad for dinner.

Yarn requirements:
A, B 225 (250, 275, 275, 300, 300) yds
C 325 (325, 325, 425, 425, 550) yds
D 175 (175, 175, 175, 200, 200) yds
E 150 yds

Colorways shown:
3260 coleus (a), 3255 rock henna (b), 3236 mushroom (c), 3250 sunflower (d), and novelty yarn (e)
