Pull out your dancing slippers! Trip the Light Fantastic is a pair of knee-high laceweight stockings with a mesh pattern and a cabled column worked from the toe up, beginning with a short-row toe. A cable and lace cuff finishes the sock and hides the garter. Different needle sizes are used in lieu of calf decreases.

Sizes: Ladies’ Small (Medium, Large) to fit a foot circumference of 7 (8, 9) inches 17.75 (20, 22.75)cm.

Needles: US #000, #00, and #0 (1.5, 1.75, and 2mm) or size needed to obtain gauge plus needles one and two sizes larger. Use your favorite type of needle for small-circumference knitting: double-pointed, two 24-inch (60cm) circulars, or one long circular for Magic Loop.

Gauge: 12 sts/inch (2.5cm) on smallest needles.

Yarn: Holiday Yarns Skinny Ewe, 50% wool, 50% silk, 800 yards (738m) to 3 oz (85g). Two-thirds of one skein in Loch Ness.

Notions: Two stitch markers; one locking stitch marker; cable needle; scrap yarn; thin elastic or ribbon for garters; scissors; tapestry needle for darning in ends.
