The TRISERIATA CRESCENT shawl and TRIGEMINUS VARIATION is the unified design especially created to explore trinitas -- the state of being threefold or triple; a group of three or triad; three things united into one.

A set of richly textured (yet simple to work) stitch patterns based on trine (or triplet) multiples and a choice of premium yarns (varying in fiber and weight) combine into a quite versatile crescent shawl design, one complemented both thematically and fashionably by a featured bejeweled shawl pin.

Note on Shawl Pin: The satisfying results and lovely appearance of this design are further enhanced by pairing it with a striking and unique multi-tasker (convertible to a pendant by adding a chain) such as the sparkling 3 in 1 Shawl Pin designed and handmade by artisan Beatriz McTiernan of Jewelry for Knitters.

Each Swarovski-crystal silver-wired piece is unique, though the two shawl pins used and pictured throughout were chosen to generally represent different sizes and features (i.e., number and type of removable charms, which can also be used as stitch markers or progress keepers, and may include freshwater pearls, tiger-eye gems, Swarovski crystal stars and/or hearts, and silver-plated yarn balls).

This shawl is constructed seamlessly from side to side in a crescent shape (which can be worn in many different ways), non-identically reversible (so that there is no actual “wrong” side, as such), for body-conscious proportional design (to flatter all body types and permit the wearer to emphasize different areas of the figure).

The design is somewhat forgiving of any knitter gauge variation, should it occur, although blocking is strongly recommended to create the particular finished outline appearance desired by the individual knitter.

Actual pattern directions for knitting the TRISERIATA CRESCENT shawl and TRIGEMINUS VARIATION are presented in fully detailed row-by-row written format, including schematics with measurements and many photos. Explanatory material -- technical tips, useful working methods, etc. -- and finishing information are also provided in the pattern.

Note on Gauge: Overall average (across all stitch patterns) is given for TRISERIATA CRESCENT above. Gauge of 3.4 stitches and 5.9 rows = 1 inch in TRIGEMINUS VARIATION overall (combined pattern stitches). (PDF download further provides section-by-section individual stitch-pattern gauge values for both shawl sizes to permit meaningful gauge swatching.)

Note on Yarn Weight: Category above (Fingering) is given for yarn (Fibre Art Studio on Granville Island Sparkle) used for TRISERIATA CRESCENT. Yarn (Fibre Art Studio on Granville Island Kid Silk) used for TRIGEMINUS VARIATION is Lace category.
