Over decades of teaching I have observed many students and gained clear insights into what they require to further their technical development. This scarf, bag and hat set is a graded exercise designed to raise skill levels in knitting Celtic knotwork.

I drew an emblematic triskel to serve as the core of the project. Try it out first on the scarf, which is an easy knit and ideal for someone knitting a knot for the first time. The next step is the bag: still quite easy but with more construction elements involved. Finally, graduate to the hat, which is more complex as the knotwork is knitted in the round. On completing the project your experience and confidence will be enhanced, and you will have some wonderfully versatile accessories to wear, or give as gifts.
