This hat is a quick and fun project that allows you to use a whole ball. It has a bit of slouch, and will fit most women’s head. The combination of twine and bobbles give it a special touch, and the pompom, made with the yarn that is left, completes the picture.

Yarn suggested:
One (1) ball of Baby Alpaca Grande (100% Superfine Baby Alpaca, 110yds / 101m per 100g ball)

Alternate Yarn:
One (1) ball of Patons Classic Wool Roving (100% Pure New Wool, 120yds / 109m per 100g ball) or approximately 110yds / 101m of a bulky weight yarn.

Needles:
16”/ 40cm circular US # 9 (5.5mm) (or 40”/ 100cm for Magic Loop),
16”/ 40cm circular US #10.5 (6.5mm) (or 40”/ 100cm for Magic Loop), DPN US #10.5 (6.5mm).

Gauge:
Before blocking: 14sts = 4”/ 10 cm with larger needles
After blocking: 13sts = 4”/ 10cm with larger needles in stockinette stitch.

A note on blocking:
This step is crucial for this hat and should not be overlooked. The hat will feel tight before blocking. Blocking will relax the cables, smooth out the bobbles, and give the hat the right fit. Please refer to the measurements provided in the pattern to complete this step.
