Tube Hat
This is an insanely warm hat that can be worn in an array of configurations. In fact, there are over 72 different ways to wear this hat, though not all 72 have been sanctioned by the knit-wear designer.
The hat construction is deceptively simple. You’re thinking to yourself: how did you make that amazing tube hat? Relax. Tubing is easy in the knit world.
Begin with a bout of religious swatching, determining your gauge so that you get the right number of stitches (in the round) for the Targeted Head. Now knit your first tube. The tube should be over 10” and as long as 22” -- that’s right, the tube can be an extensive artifact of knittery goodness.
Now all you have to do, for the inner liner -- which is a structural item, a color-contrast, and what makes this hat so freaking warm -- is to pick up stitches on one end of your existing tube. Pick up stitches and purl your way along until you have a second layer/tube of equal length. Close up the second element with simple reductions or a cinch method (which is discussed elsewhere).
Prepare Targeted Head for the tube, which can and should be worn in any number of ways.
