Knit stockings rose above the knee and were gartered, or tied with woven or knit bands. Mended and darned until beyond repair, the legs were often used as ‘scoggers’ - forearm coverings worn for warmth and protection. These stockings are based on a pair and the Victoria & Albert Museum.

Drawstring toe as for a hat.
