Graceful cable and seed stitch long-sleeved cardigan with back and waist shaping, accentuated seams and twisted stitches to set off the cabling.

Construction: Sweater fronts, back and sleeves are knit flat from the bottom up with seams. The garter border is worked as part of the fronts, mitered at the center neckline, worked continuously with the neckline, then continued as bands which are joined around the back neck. Shoulders are shaped using short rows. Sleeves are set in.

Finished chest measurements:
33-1⁄2 (35-1⁄2, 37-1⁄4, 40, 44-1⁄4, 47-3⁄4, 51-1⁄2, 55)“.
-2 to +4” ease is recommended. Shown in size 40 on a 36” dress form (+4” ease).

Needles:
Needles size 6 US (4 mm) and 7 US (4.5 mm) straight or circular needles; cable needle or double pointed needle.

Notions:
Stitch markers, tapestry needle, scrap yarn, eight 11/16” (17 mm) buttons.

Yarn:
Sunday Knits 5 ply (light worsted) in Nirvana (92% merino 8% cashmere), Eden (100% merino), Brigadoon (100% merino tweed) or Angelic (75% merino 25% angora); 137 yd (125 m) per 1 3⁄4 oz (50 gm) skein: 8 (8, 9, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13) skeins.
Substitute any light worsted yarn that works nicely to gauge.

Gauge:
18 sts and 28 rows = 4” in Seed Stitch using larger needles. Measure gauge from the center of a large washed and dried swatch.

Reading cable charts, short rows (explained), cable cast on (for buttonholes).
