The thing about these socks is they are knit from the toe up. There are many advantages to this, the main one being that calf length can be adjusted at the end rather than at the beginning. This can prevent knitters from running out of yarn before finishing their second sock. Before you begin your sock project, divide your skein of sock yarn in two equal parts and then knit each sock as long as you like or until the half skein runs out, whatever happens first. This pattern is a gentle introduction to the world of toe up socks without sacrificing any cuteness along the way. Toe shaping is established with simple increases and the heel is created with German short-rows which is an easy to follow technique that makes a tidy heel. So you won’t get bored we have added a cozy knit/purl texture to the sock’s foot and calf but you can omit it for a plain stocking stitch sock and we won’t tell.
Cheers to your happy toes!
