This pattern is not just a shawl. There is also a matching Scarf and Slouchy. It is made with an unique double crochet stitch. It resembles tumbling blocks. Is an easy project once you get the way to crochet the blocks. The hat and scarf can be made each in a day. The shawl may take up to two depending on how fast you crochet. The Shawl and Scarf both take the size F crochet hook. The Slouchy takes both the F and the H hooks. The F is used on the band and the H is used on the top of the hat.
Any DK/sport weight yarn will work. I like both the Berroco and the Plymouth DK. They are soft, machine washable and warm. Plus come in a wide variety of colors. You need 300 yards for the Slouchy, 400 yards for the Scarf and 900 yards for the Shawl. There are two different types of edging you can put on your work. A saw tooth design the stand scallop shell design. Both or listed in the pattern.
