These socks were knitted to demonstrate the techniques I teach in my online Craftsy class Essential Skills for Sock Knitting, and were available in kit form from Craftsy. They are unusual in that instructions are provided for knitting these socks both from the top down and from the toe up. They feature a standard round heel with an eye-of-partridge pattern on the heel flap, and a wedge toe.

If you suffer from “second sock syndrome,” you can knit one sock from each direction and avoid knitting the same sock twice!

This stitch pattern is best worked with sharp-point needles.

For a better fit, the upper half of each leg is worked on needles one size larger than needed to get the main gauge so that the upper leg circumference is slightly larger than the lower leg circumference.

All of the techniques specified in these instructions are covered in my Craftsy class, Essential Skills for Sock Knitting, available at www.craftsy.com.
