I love the definition tween. A word for the kids who are too young to be called teenagers, but already acting like ones. My own tween wanted a sweater for the summer: it needed to be white, short but long enough, kind of loose, not hot, ¾ sleeves but not too long, soft yarn not itchy, and the neck should be open, maybe a bit like boat neck, but really not choking her. And absolutely no fancy stuff, like simple. And can I have next Monday, please Mom. (Okay to be fair for tweenagers, if she had been a real teenager she would not want anything I made and would not have used the phrase “Please, Mom”.)

So Here It Goes: Loose-fitted, short and ¾ sleeved sweater for my tween. The fabric itself is also loose-knitted to keep the sweater extra-cool. The larger size is the one I originally made.

The sweater is knitted in the round on circulars from bottom to shoulders, front and back are separated for armholes and shoulder seams are seamed with Kitchener. In the front the neck is shaped with short rows. Sleeves are picked up from armholes and worked downwards.
