Twilight is a lovely soft pillow, perfect for lovers of all things ‘Owly’. Fun, yet still has that touch of sophistication that means it looks fabulous in the classiest of rooms. Try it in snowy white, forest green or claret, or for a more modern take, it would be just as wonderful in neon pink or purple. The reverse of the pillow has a lovely soft texture for comfort and a simple buttoned fastening allows for easy care.

Materials:
Example made using just over 100g/294 yards of DK/Light Worsted weight Yarn ( Detroit by Red Heart). This gives a very soft but not totally opaque fabric and is best used over a matching coloured cushion pad. If you prefer a denser fabric then exchange yarn for an Aran/Worsted Weight, still using the same size needles. This will give a larger result and will require extra yarn and a bigger insert.
Size 5.00mm needles.
Suitable cable needle or Double pointed needle.
Stitch markers or small lengths of spare contrasting yarn.
Large eyed tapestry needle for sewing up and weaving in ends.
Optional: 4.00mm crochet hook if you prefer to crochet the side seams together.
4 x medium to large sized buttons for fastening.
6 x small buttons or beads for eyes.
17x17 inch (43 x 43 cms) pillow insert to match colour of yarn (or cover a white insert with suitable fabric/felt/old t-shirt)

Finished Size/Gauge:
Using DK/Light Worsted Yarn and 5.00mm needles produces a pillow suitable for a 17 x 17 inch (43cm x 43 cm) insert. My preference is for my pillows to have a plump and ‘well stuffed’ appearance, also gauge is not critical for this item, and for those two reasons, I would advise completing the cover and then purchasing an insert to suit.

Method:
Twilight is worked in one flat piece in rows, turning after every row. Beginning with the flapped opening, the piece is worked bottom-up, seamlessly continues with the front and then the back. Once cast off, buttoned eyes are attached to bring your lovely owls to life and the sides are seamed by your chosen method. Finally, buttons are added to fasten.
