Don’t wait another minute to knit up that special skein or two of sock yarn that you’ve been saving in your stash for “just the right project”! This slouch hat uses fingering-weight yarn held double to give you a squishy, warm hat that still has the stitch definition of a small-gauge yarn. It looks fantastic in solid and tonal colorways, and, taking approximately 6-12 hours to complete, it’s a relatively quick project!

Knit the pattern as written for a roomy slouch-style hat (pink hat), or follow the modification note in the pattern to create a closer-fitting style (purple hat).

“Adventurous Beginner” Techniques used are:

knitting in the round
twisted stitches (explained two ways in the pattern, with and without the use of a cable needle)
“Make 1 increase” - explained in the pattern
knitting (or purlilng) two stitches together

Materials Needed:

360 (435, 492) yds. fingering-weight yarn (Sample shown was made form Malabrigo Sock yarn in the “Light of Love” colorway. 100% Merino, 440 yds per 100g skein)
US Size 4 / 3.5mm circular needle
Set of four dpns, US Size 4 needle / 3.5mm
1 stitch marker
yarn needle
