As my daughter-in-law’s birthday 2013 approached I moved and couldn’t find the project bag with her almost-finished socks in them. I was looking at the October 2013 SKA challenge for mirror image socks and thought of the Regia Galaxy Color in black/gray I’d purchased with her in mind and went in search for an appropriate pattern. Because I know how this yarn behaves, with its unique Saturn-like swirls, I knew the pattern couldn’t be a real busy one. I liked the look of Socks on a Plane, but I wanted short-row and toe-up and a mirrored cable that went up the outside of the leg. So this sock was born!

The cables on the “back” of the sock up the leg and two stitches from the cable panel on the front and they mirror each other. In addition, the cables run only on the outside of the feet and legs.

Since I’d used this yarn before and knew how disappointed I was when the swirls looked the same, rather than in reverse, on each foot, I worked from the outside of one ball and the inside of the other and got the effect I was hoping for.

I am testing a heel-flap version and will add that element to this pattern when it is ready.

PLEASE PM ME WHEN YOU FINISH YOUR SOCKS SO I CAN INCLUDE YOUR PHOTOS ON THIS PATTERN PAGE!!
