This is a tight fitting hat because of the stretchy nature of the twisted stitches rib pattern. The knit stitches really pop when you knit through the back loop and give the surface of the fabric a sculptural relief. The size of my hats is based on 3”= 1 pattern repeat. If you need to make a different size hat just add or subtract pattern repeats.
You can use a 16”-#6 circular needle with #6 double pointed needles to finish the cap or use a #6 magic loop for the entire hat.
There are only 4 rows of pattern for this hat so I have only included written instructions. This pattern is a great way to practice cables without a cable needle as it uses a 4 stitch cable. I’ve written directions for making cables without a cable needle and you can find directions on You Tube as well.
Remember to always knit through the back loop of all the knit stitches!
As with many of my patterns, you may use this pattern in any way that you wish. It is my contribution to our economy in the USA. Enjoy your knitting!
