I was asked to make a messy bun hat for a friend who wanted one where the bun opening wasn’t at the top of the hat, so I designed one that placed the opening at the back where I’ve seen most naturally wear a bun.

Included with this pattern is an additional pattern to make a traditional beanie using the same design, so you will get two patterns for the price of one!

Pattern uses front post stitches to make the cables and is suitable for intermediate crocheters.

I was able to make one of each beanie using only one skein of Bernat softee baby yarn.
