Two little dickie birds sitting on a wall, one named Peter, one named Paul. Fly away Peter, fly away Paul. Come back Peter, come back Paul. – nursery rhyme

This pattern is to represent those two little birdies so you can play the fun game with your toddler.

I made two sizes, one to fit little toddler fingers, and another to fit mummy or daddy’s fingers so everyone can play. The toddler size will also fit bigger kids.

It’s a really great scrap project, using less than 10 metres of yarn (more like 2 metres actually.

Important note: don’t forget to make the face before the body of the puppet gets too long, otherwise it will be too fiddly to make the eyes and beak.

Use fabric glue to attach the wings, but you can also sew them on if you prefer.
