This started as a challenge to use the same fingering yarn to develop different looking hats. I played with one, two and four strands of the Estelle Permin yarn and came up with four hat patterns that hopefully will suit everyone’s taste for something simple or complicated.

This lovely slouch is knit with two strands of fingering yarn. Because of the larger needle and the Permin yarn, it falls nicely.

A welt separates the ribbing from the rest of the hat and serves as an anchor for the wrap stitches and the bobbles that add a bit of zest. Simple but elegant.

The pattern is a 16 stitch-repeat and each row is easy to memorize.
