Tyla exudes clarity and calm. The sweater’s beautiful texture with a large diamond pattern lets you clear your mind and thoughts during knitting. Its casual cut with a split hem and generous, straight sleeves give you exactly the freedom you are looking for. The pretty funnel neck in a half-twisted rib stitch is cosy and warm. Our Lovely Merino Treat –here in the subtle Moods tone Sand– makes the design by Emma Ducher shine in all its harmony.

Tyla is knitted from the bottom up. You start with the two sections for the split hem in half-twisted rib stitch and join them before knitting the body in rounds. The upper front and back sections are knitted separately in rows, and the shoulders are shaped using short rows. You then join the shoulders with a three-needle bind-off. The funnel neck is knitted in half-twisted rib stitch, and the sleeves are worked without decreases in rounds. Before knitting the cuffs you work decreases to shape the sleeves. For the large diamond pattern, you work purl, twisted and cross stitches following both the written instructions and the chart at the same time. The position and size of the diamond pattern vary slightly for the nine sweater sizes.

Tyla is a design from our 2023 collection. In these turbulent times, there is much cause for reflection. And especially the desire for serenity and calm, for light-heartedness and peace. We have therefore named the designs in this collection after this longing, in different languages. Tyla means silence, calm in Lithuanian.
