Each fall, I make The Gentleman a new pair of hand knit socks to keep his feet warm during his adventures hiking, foraging mushrooms, wandering along trails, driving long gravel roads. The low tides along the Pacific Ocean made for amazing clam digging this season, while the bracing winds and fall light played at the water’s edge inspired the mixed textures of slipped stitches and cables. Knit in worsted wool, these make a quick and warm hiking sock.
